Marcel Praet / Albert Jurardus van Prooyen / Fanny Psicha

Marcel Praet

This watercolour shows the exquisite workmanship
of this contemporary belgium artist.
Marcel Praet is at this moment professor at
an Art Academie near Antwerp (Belgium)
Work on paper. Dimensions: 30 / 40 cm.

Quite different but again a genuine work by this humble artist!
Colour etching on paper. Dimensions: 22 / 30 cm.

Albert Jurardus van Prooyen

A small oilpainting of this very talented dutch painter.
At the age of 13 he allready followed lessons at
the royal academy in Amsterdam.
Though his works are shown in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam
he never made it to be one of the greater painters of his time.
This was the first painting that started our crazyness in
collecting art. We bought it at a local auction held for
charity reasons in our hometown.
Oil on panel. Dimensions: 20 - 28 cm

The painting presented here above was the start for me to collect
more paintings. That is the reason I keep on looking for this particular
artist. As it was not unusual to do more paintings on the same spot
this painting also has its' "sister". And although van Prooijen
has been often copied, the elements and way of treatment
convinced me together with the "Sothebys" sticker present on
this work. Oil on panel. Dimensions: 31 / 41 cm.

The signature on this work is typical van Prooijen. It is present
as well on the first work but at the time we bought that hardly
identifiable. The addition at the and of the name stands
for "fecit' to our opinion. (ft)

Presented here is another painting taken from the same spot.
It is obvious that van Prooijen used his own imagination and
added people and a windmill, probably for commercial reasons.
This painting has been auctioned at Sothebys as well.

Fanny Psicha

A watercolor by this artist.

The women painters of the 19th century were in
fact sentenced to work inside their homes what
resulted in still lives and interiors and this is exactly
what Fanny Psicha did. Fanny Psicha made some
interesting oil paintings.  In fact her real name was Maria
Adeline AliceSchweistal. Her works were found in
the royal Dutch collection. Work on canvas
Oil on canvas: Dimensions: 30 / 47 cm.

The signature on her oil paintings and watercolors is fairly
straight forward. When she writes with a pen or pencil
her writing is much more gracefully as  the picture here
beyond attests. It confirms her address in Amsterdam.
