Geo Lechein
This painting reminds me of my first pianoteacher. Though
the stringed instruments were not there the atmosphere is
about the same. An old oil heater was in winter time right
behind us. Piano never was my favourite but being a
member of an upper class family we "had" to play the
piano. Some restaurations were needed here but the
nostalgic feeling remains to most important issue here.
Work on canvas: Dimensions: 40 / 50 cm.
Hard to read but his signature certainly is there.
By clicking on this picture you are able to enlarge it.
Etienne Lecompte
That was what Ertienne Lecompte was known for:
His very rich palette of colors that are always present
in his works that are often landscapes but a still life
in this case has the same elements in a expressionistic
style but nevertheless immediately recognizable!
Work on Panel. Dimensions: 32 / 50 cm.
Henri Lemoine
In fact Lemoine was an autodidact and later visited some
schools in art. This is a later work from his hand in which
he excells in impressionistic / expressionistic colors and
an interesting way in working with it. Oil on panel.
Dimensions: 52 / 80 cm.
The closer you're looking at this painting, the more
abstract it seems to become.
He keeps on playing with his colors and is
convincing in his sun and shadow parts.
This painting received a recent encadrement in Antwerp.
Hre it is obvious that he is "abstracting" even his own
signature. One you know what has to be there....
Another example of his wild paintstrikes.
A picture taken placed in another spot.
Henry Lenaerts
Probably a painting by Henry Lenaerts who is a celebrated sculpturist
but made drawings and paintings as well. We still have to investigate
wether it really is from his hand but quality is there so it wouldn't be
a surprise. Oil on Canvas. Dimensions: 50 / 60 cm.
Here's the signature that says: Lenaerts H
The signatures that are at our disposal are most
likely from the statues he made so its' differences
would be quite explainable.
Henri Lenaerts was born in 1923 and lived
until quite recently in Spain. He died in 2008.
Max Liebermann
In this case the signature is in fact more important.
Max Liebermann, the greatest impressionistic painters
of Germany hardly ever signed in watercolour.
The few times he did that we must say, quite
convincing but only one "n" ???
As Max Liebermann often worked in the Netherlands
untill about 1916 and knowing his more roughly
approach in the latter years, it could as well have been
from his hand. We are planning to investigate but not
with much hope to be honest. Anyway, presented here
is a Tea Garden house in Leiden as has been written
on the back and a nice pastel / watercolour in his
own right. Work on paper. Dimensions: 23 / 35 cm.
Joseph Lindskog
Regarding art you have to keep an open mind regarding
paintings, colours, materials used and artists. This work
by the swedish born artist Lindskog has a strange title
to our opinion: Trattoria Italien though it seems to be
an Africain scene but the addition Roma 1921 confuses
us. Anyway a nice work in which the strange use of
colours makes it a bit of a stand alone.
Oil on Canvas. dimensions 60 / 75 cm.
The signature seems to be spot on as we studied
several other works found on the internet.
