Jan Rijlaarsdam / C. Sanchez

A rather big work of this well known painter from the Netherlands.
You have to ask yourself wether this could be true but several
ways of depicting elements here are typical skills of this painter.
Work on Canvas. Dimensions: 60 / 80 cm.

E.g the colourshades in the clothes of the human figures on this
painting. Of course his way of working with a palette knife.

To me masterly crafted the impression of the Opera in
the background. Somewhat craquele but who cares...

The way the sidewalks have been painted here.
Compare this to other works made by this artist
who visited Paris in the fifties of the past century.

Another typical thing is his working with color areas
that a subtle changing depending on how the light strikes
the objects.

The signature which seems to be spot on as well.

Signed on the back as an extra but we do not know
if this has been done by the artist himself.

C. Sanchez

This watercolour gives a view on the Plaza Mayor in Madrid
taken from the westside. As we've been there several times
we simply liked it though it could be production work by a
street artist. Careful examination however shows that this
watercolour has been done with care no matter
who's the artist. Dimensions 25 / 35 cm.

By examining this signature you can also see the pencil
strikes proving that it has been set up in pencil at first.
Quite common of course with watercolours.
