Christian Huidekoper / Charles Jacquemot / Walter Jonckheere (1924 - 1999)

Christian Huidekoper (1878 - 1939)

This Dutch painter travelled a lot and had quite a progressive
approach to landscapes and painting in general. Though I  really
dig the elements in the landscapes themselves, his skies
more than often are done with a small quantity of paint.
It seems to be of less interest to the artist while other
elements are forcefully done. nonetheless, his way of
painting moves me one way or another. Oil on canvas.
Dimensions: 47 / 62 cm.

Allmost opposed to his way of painting is this "fragile" signature
that can be found in a similar way on othger paintings as well.

Painted in the south of Europe.  The Mills of Benalosa and
Sain Juan near alcala de Guadaira, Spain (1926)
Huidekoper worked in Italy, France and in Maroc as well.
Again the sky is not that important to him.

And another work of this artist who has very divergent
sales results with his paintings. The priciest work being
around € 1000,-  There is a Geertruida Huidekoper
who could have been his mother, I don't know.
She made some very expensive still lifes but in the
19th century style while Christian did this with a
more expressionistic approach.

Charles Jacquemot (1879 - 1946)

Charles Jacquemot is a french painter who developed
himself towards a post impressionistic style. His colours
at that time reminds me a bit of Cezanne. Oil on canvas.
Dimensions 50 / 61 cm.

This painting surely has some interesting auction numbers
before it "landed' in a household auction where I bought
it. The following numbers can be found on the frame:
94/2049   -   852 (stickers) and the numbers 128 and
546 (in chalk) The number 128 points towards Auction
House Campo in Antwerp where it has been sold in 2010.
The number 546 points towards the same auction house
when this painting was sold for € 1482,-

Walter Jonckheere

Being a policeman for his profession this Brugge based belgium painter
made a lot of city views, mostly in Brugge (Belgium) but marines
as well. Though not all parts are that strong, his colours are
really catching and his work has a lot of atmosphere.

Very hard to photograpgh this signature.
This work has been dated 1955.
Jonckheere, who has been documented in the Paul Piron,
was one of the so called post impressionists.
