Paris / Jef de Pauw (II)

Paris

Another non-signed painting of Paris

For sure a Paris streetscene as the green column is a
typical thing for Paris. They are called the "Colomne Morris",
named after Morris who got permission to place 150
examples of them in 1868. Originally columns for advertisements
and later the announcement of  shows and later films.
Thus wild paste was avoided. Some were hollow and were also
used as storage space for the street sweepers or contain a urinal.
Sometimes they were expanded for small book and
newspaperstores. Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 35 / 50 cm.

Jef de Pauw

There are two painters called Jef de Pauw. This a work by
the younger one in the style of Gustaaf and Leon de Smet.
This way of working was later called "Lathemse School"
Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 50 / 60 cm.
