Mary Vonne / Maurice de Vries

Mary Vonne

At first we saw this painting placed behind glass. The
result was a bit of a dull looking "crayon" but to our surprise
it appeared to be an oil painting on canvas with lively
colors. The strongest point in this work are the colors,
no doubt, but also in combination with the black vase.
Oil on canvas. Dimensions 30 / 40 cm.

This picture had to be photoshopped because  it is normally
hardly readable. Made in 1938. She appears to be a born
Americaine though there are artist with the name Maryvonne.
When you google on Mary Vonne floral paintings the
site from Live auctioneers will give some other examples
of her work

Maurice de Vries

An intruiging work by this mostly surrealistic working painter.
The green/blue light is reality in the depths of the ocean and
certainly in the environment of this particular fish.
Work on board. Dimensions: 40 - 60 cm.
