Godfried Verherstraeten / Firmin Verhevick / Verner

A winter landscape in which this artist ( in a broad sense)
succeeds in transmitting the love for his country. In fact
Verherstraeten was a hairdresser but he was talented
in a lot of different fields and still a well known citizen
in Zele (Belgium) though he died in 1905.

Difficult for proper reading but once you know what is
there things are becoming clear.

Firmin Verhevick

This watercolour is made by the Belgium artist Firmin Verhevick.
The use of colours and subjects allways makes him easily
distinguishable. Work on paper. Dimensions: 30 - 40 cm

Verner

It remained a mystery to us but searching on the internet
finally brought the solution: Joseph Werner Baer is the
real name behind "Verner". This artist lived from 1921
until 1993. Clear to us is the influence of Raoul Dufy
the way he depicts the violins. Immediately recognizable
are the faces painted by this artist and an example can
be seen at the child on the left. Work on paper.
Dimensions: 50 / 65 cm. Probably Gouache technique.

Though not even securely painted the way a violin builder
is carving has been exposed in an obvious way.

The same counts for this client that is giving one
of the instruments a trial: Very striking!

The signature has been written in the childs' robe.
It is clear that it should be made in 1968.
