Michel De Pypere (1923 - 1978)
A belgium based artist who worked a bit like Saverijs but
stayed close to his own color pallette. He started a gallery that still
exist and at the moment is active under direction of his son.
Oil on Canvas: dimensions 50 / 70 cm.
His works are allways dated and this one has been signed at the back
of the canvas as well. He was born in Kuurne and the Gallery also
is still there: Gallery "De Pypere". Values of his works vary
a lot but mostly allways somewhere between 500 and 1000 Euro's.
Louis Derijks
This Dutch painter later worked merely abstract but one way
or another this composition drew my attention being
probably made for a stained glass project. It has been
based on the Opera "Carmen" from the composer Bizet.
Another problem with this work is the signature: Which is ment
to be the final one? We think the vertical placed text to be the title
of this work (Carmen) and the other his name of course.
He later had a restyled signature but this is the early one as
has been stated already. This work dates from the fifties.
Ernest Dezentjé
Though unsigned it has a lot of features
pointing in the direction Ernest Dezentje.
E.g. the older canvas, the way the paint has aged
and last but not least: its'provenance.
At first we thought the signature has been painted
over probably due to customers rules but careful
examination of the sides of this canvas made clear
that this work has been cut off on one side and
that could be the real reason the signature isn't
there anymore. Most likely done because of some
damage. Oil on canvas. Dimensions 41,5 / 60 cm.
